Cashier   

  • Description: Assist customers, operate the register and process card transactions. 

  • Requirements: Strong interpersonal skills, ability to handle money and work in a friendly, fast-paced environment. Experience is preferred but all volunteers receive training. 

  • Time commitment: Minimum of half a day per week for three months.

Books & Media

  • ​Description: Sorting, pricing and shelving books and media by genre. 

  • Requirements: Must be able to distinguish among approximately 40 genres. Training provided.

  • Time commitment: Minimum of 1-2 mornings per week for three months.

Showroom 

  • Description: Keeping Restore clean, organized, safe and accessible while providing great service is imperative to a shopper’s experience and perception of Habitat. Volunteers are assigned to a department (electronics, home goods, etc.) to assist shoppers and staff. 

  • Requirements: Strong customer service skills, ability to safely lift 40lbs, an interest in merchandising products and a willingness to notice and report potential safety hazards. 

  •  Time commitment:  Minimum of half a day per week for three months.

 

Receiving & Processing

  • Description: Assist with unloading and processing donations outside at the drop-off dock.

  • Requirements: Ability to safely lift 40lbs and assist with moving a large volume of items such as appliances and furniture.   

  • Time commitment: Minimum of half a day per week for three months.

Home Goods

  • Description: Assist with sorting, pricing, and merchandising donations. Home Decor, Kitchenware, Tools, Electronics and Antiques are the most common items processed.  

  • Requirements: Ability to safely lift 40lbs and work in a fun, fast-paced warehouse/showroom.  

  • Time commitment: Minimum of half a day per week for three months.

​Paint Recycling

  • Description: Paint Recycling is the ideal task for a small group of volunteers to work together to raise funds for Lexington Habitat, with the added benefit of keeping thousands of gallons of usable paint out of landfills. A true win-win for the community!

  • Requirements: Ability to safely lift 40lbs.

  • Time commitment: None
